Why Join The
RYE REVOLUTION?
America has an official bird. An official flower. An official anthem. And for 250 years, no official whiskey. As America turns 250, that changes.
Long before the United States existed, Rye thrived in tough conditions where other grains fell short. It was here before bourbon, before Tennessee whiskey, before any of it. The grain that fed this country in its hardest years and filled its glasses on the best ones has never gotten official recognition.
250 years in, it's earned it.

SIGNATURES GOAL
We’re presenting this petition to Congress on July 4th, 2026, with the goal of collecting 1776 signatures.
Why WhistlePig Whiskey Is
LEADING THE MOVEMENT
We’ve always believed Rye is the official American whiskey. It’s what people – including our own Founding Fathers, often called the Founding Drinkers – were drinking in the early days of this country. George Washington even had his own Rye whiskey distillery.
When Rye all but disappeared post-Prohibition, WhistlePig settled in Shoreham, Vermont, turned a dairy barn into a world-class distillery, and pushed Rye further than anyone thought it could go. The biggest age statements. The boldest finishes. Grain that thrived in the same uncompromising conditions this country was built on.
Rye was America's original whiskey. We're asking Congress to make it official.
